Ditch Ad Block Plus.
And now for an announcement from your friendly neighborhood IT worker.
If you use Ad Block Plus, you should uninstall it and download and install uBlock Origin immediately. (There are Firefox versions of all the extensions I’ll talk about here, just google ‘em. And some for IE, Edge and Opera.)
Ad Block Plus is now now only letting advertisers pay them to whitelist some ads, but is now letting advertisers pay them to put their own ads on websites INSTEAD of what you would normally see on that website.
Please remember that it’s possible to spread malware, including Crypotowall type malware, through ads on websites. Yes, ads are how websites make most to all of their revenue, but until ads can be trusted to not destroy your machine, you should not view them if possible.
Please make sure you get uBlock Origin and not just uBlock.
I also suggest installing a flash blocker like FlashControl. This will keep flash from automatically loading on websites you visit. Unfortunately, malware can be spread through just about any version of flash. Make sure you keep flash up to date, as well. FlashControl will be slightly disruptive to your browsing habits, but most things will load with just a single click. You can always disable it on a website if it’s being too disruptive somewhere.
If you really want to protect your privacy, install Privacy Badger. Privacy Badger will stop trackers / cookies from knowing who you are and where you’ve been on the internet. It also can be slightly disruptive, so if a site isn’t working correctly, disable one or both of FlashControl and Privacy Badger.
Even if you don’t want to do FlashControl and Privacy Badger, PLEASE do yourself a favor and move to uBlock Origin. Hope this helps!
Please read. Ad Block has sold you out to the ad industry, and this is not an exaggeration. http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/adblock-plus-wants-serve-you-ads-wait-what-1581285
fact checked. yep, it’s for real. uninstalling asap.
Super easy world creator!
I was looking for an easy map creator that makes beautiful maps for a while now to make a visually stunning map to go along with my book. And now, after such a long search i have finally found one that suits my needs! Because i like it so much, i thought i’d share it with you guys! Just go to inkarnate.com and start creating! I have to warn you though, it is still in beta so a lot still needs to be added, but already it looks great and is easy to use!
I mean just look how beautiful some of these maps are!
And it is so much fun too! Someone even created a game of thrones map that is simply amazing!
So check it out and start creating your visual aid for your story. I promise you, it really is super easy and you will make one in no time!
You can find the site here: inkarnate
@starlightofaetherius I know what I’m doing after work today.
Let’s talk about mynoise.net
Have you ever been listening to Rainymood and thought, “Yeah, this is good … but it would be nice if I could customize the sound more, or if there was a little more choice.
Let me introduce you to MyNoise.
MyNoise is a customizable sounscape looper with so many options, even within each soundscape. So say, for instance, you really love rain sounds when you write or study or relax. Anything. I know I’m a big fan of rain sounds. They have a page for that.
![]()
But say you like really high, pattery rain, and LOTS of low thunder. Here’s where MyNoise really stands out: you can customize that. See those sliders with all the cute colors? That is your equalizer. You can adjust the levels based on what you want to hear more and less of. Here’s how it looks when you want high, pattery rain and low, rumbly thunder:
But say rain isn’t really your jam. Say you want something a little more ambient, a little more background noise-y. Something with people. Well, they have customizable coffee house chatter that even has the levels listed for things like “kitchen,” “babble,” and “table”:
Or say you miss the ocean.
Or say you miss your cat.
Or say you miss your spaceship.
Or say you miss the dungeon where you and your team of scalawag adventurers used to explore and face off against, say, dragons. In the dungeon.
This site is seriously so helpful, and those are just a fraction of every kind of sounscape the site has to offer. The best part is that if you want to layer it with music (for instance, I’ll layer a playlist + rain + coffee shop if the scene I’m writing takes place in a coffee shop), you can adjust the master volume, meaning all of your layers stay at their respective volumes, just louder or quieter.
Enjoy!

Hello! This is a development blog for Dappervolk, an upcoming avatar
& pet site with cute painterly-styled art and RPG-style quest
elements. When you as a new player enter the world of
Dappervolk, you won’t be sure where you came from, and you’ll find that
you have magical abilities that the native denizens of this world don’t
have, setting you apart from them. The story behind your kind’s appearance will
gradually unravel as you explore the world and interact with NPCs.As
the player, you’ll be able to choose between 4 primary classes – Human,
Animal, Elf, and Galactic. Each class has its own strengths and
weaknesses, which will affect your gameplay stats. As you wander through
the world of Dappervolk, NPCs will ask you to choose different pathways
to different quests, which will subsequently change your story and the
rewards you’re given, and affect your interactions with other NPCs.Aside
from the ever-expanding world and main questline, players will also be
able to collect avatar clothing, hatch pets, chat on the forums,
complete daily quests, and play the minigames.Players can trade or sell their items, roleplay their characters, and
immerse themselves fully in the different mechanics of the game. Most shops in the world will be chance machines, allowing for some
exciting surprises and rare item finds. Please follow this
development blog if you’d like to stay updated on our progress, as well
as participate in future social media events, alpha, beta, and finally
the official launch! We’ll be posting tidbits of information, as well as show our progress creating the art for the game
